The president is accusing the deputy of unhappiness.

Speaking in an interview on JKL live,on 25th August 2021, The Senate majority leader ,Murkomen ,likened the first term of the Jubilee government with that of Barak Obama and the now President of the United States ,Joe Biden. He said that the two had a codial relationship in the first term. However the past four years have been frustrating to the Deputy President.

Murkomen ,who is allied to the Deputy President said that, the President has contributed to the rift between them. He said that ,the head of state has continually frustrated his deputy. He begun by suggesting a lifestyle audit during his tour to Mombasa. This was closely followed by the deputy president agreeing to a lifestyle audit . Which didn’t Materialise .

The Senator said that, the President has been trying to coarse his deputy to resign. That he can’t mention one duty in which his deputy has failed,except supporting the Building Bridges Initiative. He said that the head of state should be glad to have a sound -minded deputy. And that the BBI was not a government project.

He added that, the deputy president didn’t have roles to perform as his duties were handed over to the Interior Cabinet Secretary ,Fred Matiang’i and the principal secretary ,state department for interior , Dr Engineer Karanja Kibicho. He said that head of state should say in what way the deputy has failed him . And that the dare to resign was shocking but not surprising.

He also added that ,”even though we are in the ‘outer ring of the onion layer’, we still get access to the government information …we know that media houses that give a lot of coverage to the Dp are denied payment through the government advertisement ….let us give fair media coverage.

On whether the Deputy President has to be president, the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator said ,‘the deputy president doesn’t to have to be president. He is just a presidential candidate with new ideas….If he doesn’t win , I’ll be standing with him ,to concede defeat and build the nation in other capacities. ‘

The Majority Senate leader added that, people in government are free to criticize the government. Criticism makes the government better . He said, ‘why can’t we make those doing the wrong things walk away? Why is walking away a ‘one-way traffic’ .”
